In 2014, Emaar Properties PJSC, a global leader in property development, aimed to highlight the monumental success of its New Year's Eve (NYE) firework displays in Downtown Dubai. This initiative sought to showcase the event's global reach and pioneering use of hybrid engagement, marking a significant milestone in the realm of public celebrations.

Concept

The concept involved capturing the essence of unity and celebration inherent in Emaar's NYE firework displays. Positioned as the epicenter of global gatherings, Downtown Dubai symbolised a nexus of cultures, where people from all corners of the world converged to celebrate a shared moment in time.

Creative Process

  1. Footage Utilisation: Leveraging footage provided by Emaar, a compelling narrative was crafted to encapsulate the unique story of the NYE celebrations.

  2. Narrative Development: A captivating storyline was shaped, emphasising unity and collective celebration. The focus was on creating a narrative that resonated with the intended message of inclusivity and joy.

  3. Storyboarding and Visual Representation: Collaborating closely with the video editor, the narrative was translated into a storyboard that visually captured the essence of unity and celebration. Each frame was meticulously designed to convey a sense of timelessness and camaraderie.

  4. Creative Direction: I focused on capturing the moment's essence and emphasising the significance of being present. The theme centered around the timeless experience of pure joy, evoking a sense of time standing still as individuals came together in celebration.

  5. Scriptwriting: I wrote the voiceover script, ensuring its celebratory and grand tone aligned perfectly with the overarching theme of unity and celebration. I also directed the voiceover actor, guiding them to infuse the delivery with the desired spirit, creating a captivating and memorable experience for the audience.

Outcomes

The final video encapsulated the essence of unity and celebration, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
